Leadership qualification process

Leadership Qualification (LQ)

The LQ is no longer available for new leaders in training to start on.  Current leaders in training who are working on the LQ have until September 2023 to complete it.  Please contact your mentor if you feel that this is not going to be possible.

Becoming a Leader – New to Girlguiding

If you are interested in becoming a leader with Girlguiding Wiltshire South, then please go to www.girlguiding.org.uk and register your interest in becoming a volunteer.  You will be contacted by your local commissioner who will talk through the various options available to you and discuss possible units for you to join.  You will also need to :

  • Complete a DBS
  • Provide 2 referees for reference checks
  • Complete a basic safeguarding online training course.

Once this has been completed you will then be able to start your training to become a Girlguiding leader by completing 2 online courses with the help and support of your unit leader:

  • Getting started in Girlguiding
  • Growing in Girlguiding

On completion of these courses you will be allocated a different experienced leader who will be able to support you through the Becoming a Leader training.

Becoming a Leader – Current Unit Helper or Young Leader

Thank you for volunteering!  Please talk to your local commissioner about your wish to become a leader.  Then you can log onto the Learning Development Platform and complete the ‘Option 2 quiz’ which will check your knowledge level.  Once you have completed this you will be allocated a leader who will be able to support you through the Becoming a Leader training.

Current Leaders wishing to complete the old Module 1 or 4

You have until September 2023 to complete these additional modules.  Alternatives will be available shortly under the new Becoming a Leader system.

If you have any questions then please contact Nicki McCarney on wscountyprogramme@gmail.com
