Lavington Guides got the amazing chance to take the Dauntseys school yacht Jolie Brise for a day sail from Hamble to Cowes and back.
The Jolie Brise is 113 years old and as so does not have winches, these help in holding the ropes while sailing and hoisting sails etc.
This all means that the Guides do literally everything by just arm power alone.
They left Hamble under gorgeous weather, sailed across to Cowes, stopped for a welcomed ice cream. On their way back the weather had turned a bit, the wind had picked up and you could see rain all around. Though luckily it did not rain on them, they did have a fair few waves spray us though.
Some of the Guides chose to sit in the bow sprit netting as they carved their way back through the waves.
They had the most amazing time and feel so very privileged to have had this opportunity.
