Adult Support is mostly about helping Leaders do their job in the Units. This includes introducing new ideas and building on existing ones so that Guiding grows locally, not just in numbers but also in the opportunities we can offer the girls.
The Adult Support Group devises training days, workshop days and resources, all in as many forms as we can to enable as many Leaders as possible to gain in knowledge, skills, experience and confidence.
Thank you to everyone who has worked hard over the last couple of months to update the leadership qualification information on GO.
Now that we are coming out from the COVID pandemic, it seems a good time to remind everyone about the process for completing the leadership qualification.
For new Leaders in Training (LiT) you have 2 years from the start of your qualification to complete it. This is normally plenty of time, but if you are struggling then please do contact your mentor or Commissioner who will support you. Due to COVID, we have a number of LiTs who are over the 2-year deadline and still have not completed their qualification. Commissioners will be in touch with you shortly for an update on progress and a chat about the way forward.
Mentors are in place to support you through your qualification. All mentors have been provided with a copy of the mentoring agreement which we are asking all LiTs to read through and sign. If you do not have a mentor assigned to you then please do contact your District Commissioner.
We are aware that a number of LiTs have not been given a copy of the LQ book. New books are on order and will be sent out as soon as we receive them.
Leaders who are changing section no longer need to redo Module 1. Instead there is a new system, which requires you to demonstrate knowledge of the new section and have a conversation with a mentor or Commissioner before having your qualification signed off. If you are a leader who is currently working on module 1 only then you will be contacted by a Commissioner who will be able to provide you with the new information and arrange a date for a signing-off meeting. This should take no longer than 6 months from starting.
