Friends of Berwick Newsletter 2019

Dear Friends,

Welcome to another year of fundraising events supporting “Berwick”, our County HQ and activity centre. Thank you for the support you gave us during 2018, and we hope that you will continue the good deed through 2019 too. This letter comes with all of the forms you need to renew your membership, and more information is available on the Girlguiding Wiltshire South website; which is accessible to all and kept up to date.

During 2018, our events raised more than £400 for Berwick. We started the year with a Spring Clean, to make the centre fit for the holiday season. Sadly, our planned Easter Craft day “Trio of Treasures” had to be cancelled due to lack of interest. However, Jenny Hunt came along to the AGM and gave us a fascinating insight into the Trefoil international project, TOPAZ, based in Russia. In the summer, we held a Street lunch party to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Trefoil Guild. A great time was had by all who attended, and the food was delicious! We finished the year with a successful Family Quiz Night for ten knowledgeable teams of four, followed by a Ploughman`s Supper.

During the year, the “Friends” funded the annual cleaning of the cooker and purchased a second set of the game of Curling, which fits perfectly in The Lodge. The Barn Owl started roosting in the nest box we put up last year. We hope he rears a family in 2019, but a resident pair of red kites might scare him away.

We have listened to our members and scheduled most of the events for 2019 during the day time, rather than evenings. Here are the dates for your diary;
* Wednesday March 6th Spring Clean 9am – 1pm Please come along to help with cleaning, gardening, tidying, sweeping , chatting & drinking coffee.
