Trefoil Guild AGM and Activity Day

On a beautiful Spring day on 21st April 60+ members from the 5 Wiltshire South Trefoil Guilds arrived at Berwick St James to enjoy a time of friendship and fun.

Members and friends were welcomed by Mrs Christine Frowde, County Chairman, around the flag staffs, where the Union Jack and Trefoil Guild flags were broken and the National Anthem was sung in honour of the Queen’s Birthday. The theme for the day was red, white and blue and in the morning members made brooches, key rings, decorated cakes with flowers, and enjoyed quizzes with a royal influence.

Following an excellent lunch, which included Coronation chicken, the Annual meeting was held, hosted by our County President Lady Jo Benson, OBE JP. She thanked all members for their unfailing support to Girlguiding within the County.

Christine lit a candle in memory of members who had died during the year, then gave her Annual report and commented on the number of activities that Trefoil Guild members are involved in within the County. She presented County TG ‘Thanks Badges’ to Lady Jo, Lin Pratten, Pat Helm and Gillian Spriggs in recognition of their service to the TG County. Rosemary Douce was introduced as the new Secretary for the County TG and Gillian received a bouquet of flowers for her work over the past 3 years.

We were pleased to welcome Diane Bouault and Shirley Eve, joint County Girlguiding Commissioners, who thanked members for their support and encouraged us to join them at the County Review on 18th May at Westbury Leigh and to support the Friends of St Anns, the Girlguiding South West Region HQ.

This was followed by an interesting talk and slide show by Mrs Pam Brooking, accompanied by her husband Patrick, about their life in the Army, and the Royal guests who had visited them when they were stationed in Germany. Tea and cake followed, and thanks are given to all those who arranged and catered  for this happy day.
